Patronizing a Prostitute and Soliciting for Prostitution are the common charges filed after a Fort Collins prostitution sting. Over people responded, with 21 setting up appointments to meet with a made-up prostitute for sex.
The 21 were arrested after going to the set-up hotel rooms only to find police officers. These types of stings are happening more and more often in Fort Collins and Larimer County. The Fort Collins police and Larimer County Sheriff will charge this crime under subsection b when a sting operation is involved.
As a class 1 misdemeanor, Patronizing a Prostitute is punishable by 6 to 18 months in the Larimer County Jail. This crime is charged simply by agreeing to meet with a person for sexual services in exchange for money.
